Spreading the word about Wire’s €24m round

How we secured coverage in the world’s largest business and tech media.

We executed a PR project for Wire for announcing their 24 million EUR Series C round. The story was picked up by +15 international media, including TechCrunch and Business Insider.

As part of our efforts, we used the name recognition of one of their investors, Janus Friis, who is the co-founder of Skype.

Background

Wire is an end-to-end encrypted communications platform focusing on secure collaboration and communication. They serve a number of prominent enterprises and organisations, including EY and the German government. 

Initially focused on being a secure alternative to Whatsapp, Wire changed their strategy to become a B2B company and are now a secure communication platform comparable to Slack.

Approach

We drafted and co-created a press release, then we did in-depth research on the right journalists, their background and focus areas, so we could curate a tailored pitch and facilitate the dialogue with the journalists from outreach to interview.

Goals

The goal was to get the Wire story featured in some of the world’s largest business and tech media - specifically TechCrunch and Business Insider.

Outcome

The story about Wire’s €24m round ended up being featured in all the media outlets that the client had desired - among them, TechCrunch and Business Insider, as well as +15 other renowned European and international media.
